Training Course Name : Record Keeping
Brief Description: Delegates of this course will gain an understanding of the importance of record keeping and how to do it well. They will appreciate the substantial regulatory and legal underpinning of record keeping and will be able to enhance standards and quality of patient care as well as ensure compliance and contribute to risk management. Emphasising how good records signal an effective, efficient organisation the theory is complemented by many examples of records and procedures for their audit. Key issues including confidentiality, accessibility and comprehensibility of records and consistent, methodical updates to records are also covered.
Learning Outcomes: Understand importance of good record keeping for both good care provision and regulatory compliance and risk management; how to create consistent, accurate and relevant records; how to audit internal record keeping procedures with respect to laws and guidelines; understand the spirit and letter of relevant laws (Mental Capacity Act, Data Protection Act etc.) and guidelines; appropriate style and content of entries; appreciate why cited examples do or do not exemplify good practice.
Suitable for: Carers with responsibility for adjusting and/or maintaining records. Ancillary and administrative staff.
