Person Centred Care

Training Course Name: Person Centred Care
Brief Description:

Person Centred Care is now widely perceived as representing best practice and is recognised by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence in the UK (NICE) as the preferred model for social care. This course follows the 10 principles introduced by T Kitwood in the 1990s, using a blend of professional teaching and personal and group exercises. Care teams moving towards Person Centred Care formally (or indeed informally) will benefit greatly from attending this course so that the principals are thoroughly understood before moving to implementation in the care home. This course will increase the quality of care given, especially by responding to carers' needs associated with their employment (as part of their self concept) and by increasing the intrinsic rewards they receive from their caring.

Learning Outcomes: Participants will understand the following ten principals: attend to the whole person; see each individual as special and unique; give respect to the past; focus on the positives; stay in communication; nourish attachments; create community; maximise freedom/minimise control; receive as well as give; maintain a moral world.
Suitable for: Particularly teams of carers in homes moving towards Person Centred Care.
Related Course(s): Care Planning, Dementia Training
Duration: 1 day Price: From £ 349 + VAT
