| Brief Description: | In response to the UK Government and Department of Health's prioritisation of the 'Dignity' issue in the health and social care sectors, this course was developed by experienced care home managers and Quantum Group consultants. Participants will gain a broad and substantial appreciation of the concept of dignity as well as a range of practical skills to realise dignity for all in their workplace. Course consists of a blend of professional teaching, group work and personal tasks and reflection. | ||
| Learning Outcomes: | Understand the concept of dignity and importance of empathy with others; understand relevant legislation e.g. Mental Capacity Act 2005 and quality and commercial significance for the care home; appreciate both typical daily instances where dignity is potentially at stake, and occasional situations; understand factors affecting dignity and threats to it; appreciate findings of key research on dignity in care; situate dignity within the context of moves towards highest quality Person Centred Care. | ||
