About us

These pages provide information about our origins, our strengths, and where we're headed.

Origins

Quantum Group was established by Karen Bardoe, a RGN and Nurse Lecturer, who previously managed a care home, doubling its capacity and, through reputation, developing a waiting list, within three years. This experience gave Karen an intimate understanding of carers' and managers' needs as well as a real passion for improving the standards of care that residents ultimately receive. This combination of professionalism and social concern is what drives the company, which has doubled its turnover every year for the last four years.

altBuilding on client loyalty amongst homes and agencies gained through providing better staff, Quantum Group's business rapidly grew from training staff at work to providing training at dedicated training facilities, thereby providing flexibility and cost savings for care home managers. As the regulatory environment changed the service offer grew further to provision of NVQs, reflecting the increasing requirement for qualified care staff.

Karen says, "Whilst being the managing director of Quantum Group I also still work as an assessor for NVQ students. Besides giving me a lot of personal satisfaction it helps me keep in touch with  our learners and clients. This means my business is continually focusing on what people want. Ours is a family-run business, and I am always happy to speak to anyone our company works with". (View Karen's profile).

Quantum Group's strengths are:

  • We monitor the marketplace to ensure our prices are competitive and publish these online.
  • We have access to a variety of funding streams and are flexible on prices with willingness to discount if clients require more training.
  • Most of Quantum's trainers and assessors are Quantum Group employees rather than freelancers, making a better team.
  • altWe are a people-centred business which makes intelligent use of IT, including e-learning with OneFile and our email bulletin, Q-Network.
  • We invest continuously in our own staff to stay ahead: it's our business to know how much staff development matters.
  • Our focus is always on our relationships with clients, learners and awarding bodies.
  • We know our markets and develop new training services and products in anticipation of our clients' needs.
  • We can deliver training either at our dedicated training facilities or at a client venue, providing cost savings and flexibility.

Where we're going and how

The Quantum Group's mission is to build on our reputation and become the UK's premier training organization.

The Quantum Group's companies have been trading since August 2005 and their turnover has grown dramatically over this time, totaling over £800,000 in the 2008-2009 financial year. Our plans for the future are ambitious, to say the least. Our Business Plan for the current financial year has the following objectives:

  • To achieve combined turnover of £2 million.
  • To continue to develop apprenticeships as part of our range of qualifications.
  • Achieve Matrix Accreditation.

In order to achieve this we will:

  • make intelligent investment in Information Technology to maintain our service quality and value for money.
  • invest in our staff for long-term competitiveness.
  • expand into additional office and training facilities.
  • expand and develop our range of training courses and qualifications.
